Answer

ArcGIS is a widely-used geospatial mapping program, which can be used with the researcher’s own data or with datasets (including census data and world-wide topographical maps). The software can be downloaded on a student's computer via directions on Eisenhower Library's GIS and Maps guide.

The software is also installed on selected workstations at:

  • Workstation # 1 in the SAIS Library
  • JHU Washington Libraries Resource Center on the 1st floor of BOB, 1717 Mass. Ave.

Online training is an option, and the staff of the Eisenhower Library's GIS and Data Services Department are also available for support.

Note that ArcGIS licensing is for use in the United States only.  It requires a computer that uses Windows.
