Although turn-around times may vary, in general:

  • Books from other JHU libraries 1 - 3 business days, depending on the work load in Baltimore. If you requested a book from another JHU library and it hasn't arrived within 3 days, please ask a SAIS Library Circulation Desk staff member.

  • Books from BorrowDirect libraries arrive in 4-5 business days. You will receive confirmation emails when you make the request and when the book has arrived at SAIS.
  • Books from non-JHU libraries (interlibrary loan) usually take between 10 and 14 days to arrive, as most arrive via US mail.
  • Articles, and sometimes chapters of books, are generally available within 2-3 business days, and are delivered electronically. Note that some articles can arrive via email in a matter of hours.
